Today marks the beginning of Advent, the four-week journey leading Christians toward Christmas Day. Each Sunday, a new candle is lit on the Advent wreath: the first for hope, the second for peace, the third for joy, and the fourth for love. Many communities honour this season with an Advent spiral, where individuals walk the spiralling path. An angel gently guides each person to the centre of the spiral to light their candle and then place it along the path. As more candles are set down, the darkness softens, and the room gradually fills with warmth, unity, and the quiet promise of returning light.
