Tuesday 12th May
The Moon is ascending in its sidereal rhythm and moves from Aquarius into the water sign of Pisces. In biodynamics, there are four spray preparations, alongside the five herbal compost preparations. These spray preparations are stirred into water before being applied to the land, plants, or compost. The stirring creates a deep vortex, then chaos, then a new vortex in the opposite direction. Through this rhythm, the preparation is enlivened and carried into the water, helping it spread through the whole farm organism. Horn manure is applied to the soil, supporting root life and soil vitality. Horn silica is sprayed as a fine mist over growing plants, helping with light, form, and ripening. Equisetum can be used when mildew or fungal pressure appears. Valerian is stirred briefly and sprinkled over the compost heap, where it acts like a warm, protective skin.
